Summary
Converting The Convention Center
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, CorpEvents NE played a critical role in converting the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) into a field hospital. In partnership with Teamsters Local 25 Trade Show Division and Suffolk Construction, the team mobilized quickly to meet an unprecedented challenge, turning the convention center into a facility capable of accommodating over 1,000 patients.

Approach
A Team Effort
The project began with an initial team of 25 workers, which grew to over 100 as the scope expanded. With support from Waltham Lumber and other local organizations, the BCEC was transformed into a fully operational medical space in record time. The facility included 1,000 patient beds, 52 nurses’ stations, 48 bathroom facilities, six acute-care suites, and a physical therapy area. Special attention was given to provide solutions for Boston’s homeless population and non-critical patients requiring ongoing care, ensuring no community was left behind during the crisis.

OUTCOME
A Successful Execution
Completed by April 11, 2020, the transformation showcased the resilience, dedication, and adaptability of the CorpEvents NE team and its partners. This project not only addressed immediate healthcare needs during a global crisis but also exemplified the industry’s ability to innovate and collaborate under extreme conditions. The swift and efficient execution of the field hospital highlighted CorpEvents NE’s commitment to serving the community and meeting challenges with ingenuity and expertise.
